In the run up to Spring Fling 2023 (May 27 to 29th) you will find me mostly in the studio building up my collection of felt art!
Who’s taking part?
I am delighted to be chosen again as this event has been fabulous for me in the past and here, in the far west of Dumfries and Galloway, people travel out to visit the studios here! They are never disappointed as the drive here is wonderful, the scenery breathtaking and the welcome is warm. This year there is Jane Fraser in Drummore https://www.janefraserstudio.com/ about 2 miles from me, a wood turner. Showing in Portpatrick is Erinclare Scrutton, https://www.erinclarescrutton.com/ a painter and printmaker. So much art to feast the eyes on and so much wonderful scenery.
What can you see at my studio
This year I will showing paintings, miniature framed pieces, wall hangings, sketchbooks covered with felted designs, wearable arts like scarves and brooches with designs based on sea anemones! I’ve had such fun creating these and have moved onto ruffle scarves now then back to felt paintings. Thats what I love about my art practice, I get to do what I love on different days, mood dependent!
Looking at how felted art is made can be fascinating for many, its probably my favourite part when I let visitors try their hand at felt making and this year will be no different, try a flower or mini seascape! Very popular with many people including children who are welcome to the studio and gallery provided they are supervised at all times due to extensive grounds with steep banking to the burn and the main road just outside the studio.
For those returning this year I really look forward to seeing you and sharing my new work and those who have not been, I hope you will make the journey out to see us, you will not be disappointed as we put huge efforts into this event and refreshments are available.
My studio and Gallery – The Mull of Gallery are open all year round for visitors but please check before you travel as I am not always open due attending to other things in my life!
I am just outside Drummore, 20 miles south of Stranraer, on the road to the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse – follow the brown tourist signs to ‘Mull of Galloway Attractions’.
