Working with service users and their family members at Cromarty House in Stranraer over the last four weeks has been a wonderful experience again. You can see from some of the work here that having a therapeutic space and time to create has yielded some fabulous images and 3D flowers that will adorn the walls and shelves of their homes! The group were engrossed in their making and I was pleased to see some really investigating the felt making process through to the final week where free motion machine stitching really enhanced the images ready for framing.
The benefits are numerous with this process of felt making; participants talked of relaxation, concentration, learning a new skill, magical properties, surprising themselves, friendship, fun and above all a greater sense of self especially when they tackled projects that took time to master and finish. The outcomes for each person was varied but overall a very worthwhile project which I will miss doing now that we have completed the four weeks.
Thank you to Kelsey and Karen for your great support, tea and cake and to my helper Hannah who joined us for the last session to help finish the projects.
Roll on next time and thank you for being a wonderful group.
Linda.
